BALI SPORT FISHING SCENE
28th June 2017
Hello surfer / fisho’s and thanks for checking out our little fishing page on the baliwaves. I know it’s been awhile since I’ve up dated this, it couldn’t be helped as I’ve also suffered a bit with a lack of fishing myself due to some health problems I’ve had. But I am very happy to say that I’m back in the water surfing and fishing again TF.
As usual my crew has been slaying the fish here in Bali, early this month there were solid schools of Golden Trevelly and smallish Bonito hitting the spinners and poppers hard. No shortage of Wahoo either taking both shallow diving CD Rapala’s and deep diving X-Raps as well.
I finally got out on the water with my good friend Wayan Kara on the 26th to see if we could find some action, we were armed with 3 spinning rods and a trolling rod each, ready to do battle. After pushing off the boat we motored for around 15 mins and threw the Lures in the water for some trolling as there was lots of bait fish on the surface and some small Tuna smashing into them, perfect size food for our No.1 target Spanish Mackerel.
We trolled around for a little while with no action before pulling the lures and gunning it down to Uluwatu around 800mtrs out behind the surfers. Within 2 minutes of setting our lures we had a fish on and a nice sized Spaniard in the boat. Then as quick as we could get going we another double strike. This went on and on like that for another hour until the tide hit the top and they went off the bite. So then it was back to chasing the speedy little Bonito Tuna with spinning rods and boated a couple of those. It was a top day on the water for me. Well anytime out in the boat is always good for me even if I don’t catch anything. Plenty of fish in the boat and I’ve been eating Spanish Mackerel steaks the last couple of days and still plenty in the freeza. Can’t wait to get back out for another session soon.
Anytime at all if you want to try your luck with us for some Bali style sport fishing drop mye an email (contact us – [email protected]) and we’ll do our best to get you hooked up. The boys charge a minimum of Rp1,300.000. (around 130 Aussie dollars) for up to 2 guests. All rods, reels and fishing lures are supplied. All you need is a good hat and some sunscreen.
Ok until next time
Slim
