BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
17th April 2020
Hello surfers (KEEP READING BELOW) and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Me again and I’ve had another quick dig through the old archive drives and come up with a few beauties from Uluwatu’s mean and dredgy Racetrack section. You can take off on a 2-3 footer at the top end of this section and by the time you pull into the main barrel ledge it’s going to be well over head and just as round. This is a real speed adrenaline junkies section that’s for sure, you can’t really go wrong here, unless you catch a rail or something.
One of the Uluwatu’s features other than delivering the opportunity to get the waves of your life is it’s ability to break all day on both ends of the tide spectrum. On the top end of the tide you’ve got your choice of the hard and fast Main Peak section that is situated right in front of the “Cave”. Or you can paddle the 600mtrs+ South down to the Temple section that can also deliver long and hollow tube rides. Temple’s is roughly half way between the Peak and the actual Uluwatu Temple (the second most important Temple in Bali. You can’t see the Temple from the Racetrack but you can see it from “Temples”. On the High tide it’s paddle out only to both of these sections.
Then as the tide starts it’s daily run out for the low The Peak and Temple sections become too shallow and dangerous if there is any swell hitting the island. That’s when the Racetrack comes to life. The waves tend to focus more on the Racetrack section, that is usually fat and wobbly through the higher end. A lot of the local surfers will wait it out for the low tide when they know it’s going to be doing it’s thing. I’ll also have a dig for some Temple photos to show you sooner or later. Our next video clip is going to be Uluwatu so keep an eye out for that maybe on Sunday.
Today here in Bali it’s been a beautiful day so far here in South Kuta down near the airport. To tell you the truth I haven’t even been down to any beach (Our family guest house is only 400mtrs away from Kuta Reef / Airport Left and Right) but I have been following the forecast charts. That has always been worked into my brain in indelible ink, same like checking wind direction no matter where I am.
So like I said the forecasts are not looking too bad and thanks to Buoyweather and Stormsurf websites for providing the most accurate surf forecasting tools on the internet. I have checked out most pretenders for Indonesia but these two outfits are gold. Don’t waste your time and be embarrassed and let down from others. I’ve thrown a few shots of the today’s forecast and a couple of others showing what’s install for us here in Indonesia.
Alright friends don’t forget when this Coronavirus is squashed and things start to return to normal we are offering a 25% discount here at our Family Guest House. We specialize in taking care of surfers and keeping them surfed out and content. So drop us a line and help us out a little.
We also know that a lot of small operators are doing it very hard here in Bali and other parts of Indonesia. So baliwaves wants to try and help out a little with some free promotion on baliwaves. It’s early days just yet and we are still trying to figure out the best way to work it on baliwaves.com, more than likely it will be in the shape of an over sized business card look. But for now help us by spreading the word around, remember it’s for small outfits not your big surf schools etc etc. Contact us for more info there will be a deadline for submissions

Sad times, our flights have been cancelled so our trip with children and Grand children is over. The kids have been hanging out for so long to get back over there and it was a surprise trip back for the young’ns. Just as well we hadn’t told them or all hell would break loose.
Hi Ian sorry to hear mate, lucky you never told the kids or they’d be depressed. It may be quite awhile before International holiday flights start operating again. Thanks for your support Ian !!!
