BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
7th – 8th April 2020
Hello surfers (KEEP READING BELOW) and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Hey people time for another dig through our archives again and seeing as though I’m just going down the list of this external drive. Today it’s turn for a few old snap shots from around the Nusa Dua area, over on Bali’s East Coast. Back in the 90s I used to get over there quite a bit when wave height was down at most other locations you could always count on getting a little more swell here.
I remember the first time I surfed out there a Japanese friend and I checked it from the beach and it looked a fun but solid head to double head high. But as we got closer sitting in our reef taxi as we got closer the reality of it was more like 5-8ft. But no worries for me, back then I was a bit of a bigger wave junkie.
Nusa Dua has probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali with out a doubt. Back then there was a long row of all individual warungs and lots of original characters over there, I had my favorite (Bagongs) and there was indeed some funny buggers there on a daily basis. Not long after these photos were taken the warungs were all bull dozed and a single cafeteria style warung was built, with no character at all. It was the end of an era I thought, or maybe just the start of the end of an era. We turned up there one day and we noticed that they had installed a shower. Back then most beaches would have a “well” where you dropped a bucket down the well attached to a rope to get your fresh water to rinse off and to make coffee etc. I laughed my head off when we tested the shower out and it was pure salt water.
As a wave Nusa Dua is not a wave for learners, no way. It breaks a long way off shore and has some strong and tricky currents that only the paddle fit and ocean conscious can negotiate. If your a learner here your going to be in a World of pain. The different sections often shift over a living coral reef and can be very un forgiving. But if you know what your doing can score some very memorable rides, long and fast.
Today here in Bali from the reports I’ve had this morning there are some nice waves peeling off out the from on the Outer Reefs with 3-4ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, some surfers in the water. I’ve also heard of surfers in the water up in the Berawa / Canggu area as well.
Weather wise right now at 11.45am the early morning overcast sky is starting to open up and give us some blue. Temperature wise the mercury is on 29 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is fresh out of the ESE and off shore between Uluwatu and Kuta beach.
Swell wise there’s plenty around at the moment and should get a little bigger here on the West Coast tomorrow with a slight change in swell direction. Then another swell arriving to Indonesia on around the 10th – 11th. I sure do hope the Balinese Governor gives us the green light soon.
Ok friends stay safe and keep your heads down, if you want to get through it then for now where ever you are just stay at home. Keep an eye on the baliwaves.com and we will do our best to keep all you Bali people up to date.

Hi Nick, actually this was an old 500mm lens with an infinite auto focus. I bought it second hand and it died only after 6 months use, I got ripped off 🙂
