BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
23rd – 25th August 2020
Hello everyone and a special hello to our friends, friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 8th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table. If you can spare a dollar or two hit this link please https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Ok well wave height did back off some the last couple of days. I did get down the beach for surf checks on the Outer Reefs of Tuban to find wave height in the 2-3ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. I also had to put in a full day filing the rust off old fishing hooks, changing wire leaders and checking my 100mtrs of anchor rope. Needless to say I’ve got so many little cuts on my pin cushion like hands hehe.
But this morning I had the urge to go do a surf check down on the Southern end of the island at the famous Uluwatu, the place that put Bali and Indonesia on the surfing World map. I arrived down at Ulu at 8.17am, right on the bottom of a very dry Low Tide. Wave height as it shows in the photos was ranging from head high to double head high. It looked like the forecast new swell starting to show. There were only 6 surfers in the water and the boys did get cleaned up a few times by bigger sets breaking wide on the “Outside Racetrack” section. But there were some nice waves still breaking through the Racetrack and a couple of long and deep tube rides had.
The number of surfers did grow to 9 as the tide started to push back in, but the waves were not improving any and in my opinion the best conditions were around the bottom of the tide today. I packed up at 10.20am and driving back home past Padang Padang and Impossibles it wasn’t looking the best with wave height in the 2-4ft range and looking a little cross shore up the “bridge end”
Weather wise it’s been your typical “dry season” type day. Fresh off shore wind out of the SSE – SE and a mostly blue sky. Right now at 1.20pm the temperature is a warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 76%. Wind direction is now coming out of the SE at 22km/h.
The next tide today will be a 1.9mtr High at 2.07pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we can expect to see another bump in size, up a couple of feet on today. Wind wise the Trade wind is predicted to kick in early again and to get a little stronger than today. So it’s looking like the West Coast will be the best bet with the low tide bottoming out between 8-9am.
Ok friends thanks again for dropping by the baliwaves and thank you again for all your support through this un precedented pandemic situation we are battling through. Stay safe where ever you might be and we can’t wait for a return to normal and seeing you all back here enjoying beautiful Bali again as soon as possible.
