BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
17th – 18th September 2020
Hello everyone and a special hello to our friends, friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 8th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table.
Ok so yesterday the 17th (Galungan Manis) was a day for me to spend at home chilling with my family and visits from our other Balinese family members living in the Denpasar area. I also managed a little bit of me with a guitar and afternoon garden session. The things you do to get through this Corona pandemic. Pretty much anything you can do helps the brain get off that depressing subject. I did hear the swell had kicked in harder with more waves at Padang Padang in the afternoon and some serious waves breaking over on the East Coast through the morning.
With K. Slater and friends in town some people are hot on his trail shooting everything he does, both in and out of the water. But this morning I couldn’t really care less as the baliwaves has always had a local surfer preference. So Wayan Ray and I took a run over to the East side to coincide with a making tide and light variable wind.
As it shows in our latest batch of photos (77) it was indeed cranking at the internationally acclaimed east coast reef and rock break called Keramas. We turned up around 8.15am to find there were still a few solid double head high set waves breaking perfectly. Around 20 surfers were in the water, roughly 50 / 50 local to tourist ratio. We hung out for a couple of hours blasting away still photos and video footage thanks to WR. The SE Trade wind started to come up around 9.45am, but it was still pretty clean when we bailed out. I haven’t transferred to the video yet but will do and get you an edit up on our youtube channel asap.
Weather wise it was blue sky and heat over on the black sand beach of Keramas. Right now at 3.30pm the mercury is still; a warm 29 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 68%. Wind direction is fresh out of the SE at 15-20km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.1 drr reef exposing Low at 4.25pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for a further drop in wave height but I’m sure there will be more early morning waves on both sides of the island before the SE Trade wind kicks in.
Ok everyone thanks again for tuning into the baliwaves, the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999. We will be back with more news and reports on the situation here on your favorite holiday destination of Bali again soon.
