BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
25th September 2020
A Special hello to our friends, friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 9th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table.
Ok so we all know that bitch of a saying “when it rains it pours” well the season is starting to swing here in Bali with some heavy rain and on shore W-S wind the last few days. But not only that here at home both my old laptop and desktop have laid down and all but died on me. First the desk top, now the laptop has to be pushed and prodded to keep going. No amount of swearing or name calling makes any difference. So now I’ve stopped swearing at my lappy and being extra nice to her hoping she will keep going until I can figure out how to replace.
But hey there has been a few waves but.. I’ve been pretty much out on a fishing binge, feeding the family is of course my No.1 priority. I have caught a few nice fish, not enough to sell but enough to eat and share with some of our neighbors as well. I also lost a few good ones, but I’ll be back out there once my sunburn and aches and bruises settle down. Tomorrow is “Kuningan” here in Bali and the final ceremony for Galungan on the Balinese Hindu calendar. So maybe Sunday or Monday I’ll be back out on the water.
This morning the 25th and after I did my morning surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban (baliwaves Instagram, Bali morning surf and weather video report). Wave height on the Outer Reefs was only in the waist to chest high range with maybe a head high freaky hitting Middle Reef. The tide was already too low for Kuta Reef and Airport Left. So I thought I’d take a run up to Canggu to catch the last of the tide and off shore Northerly wind that was present.
As it shows in our latest photo gallery there were a few fun sized waves still breaking on the Pererenan Sandbar. The bigger set waves were only in the fun 3ft or head high class and the wind was still light off shore but looking like it was getting ready to turn Westerly then maybe around to the Southern quadrant, like it has been doing the last few days. The young groms and the young at heart were making the most out of it tearing up the small waves, as it shows.
Weather wise we did have some more overnight rain. That has cleared up leaving a mostly warm and sunny day. Temperature wise right now at 2.15pm the mercury is at 30C, Humidity level is at 82%. Wind direction is in deed now coming out of the WSW at 16km/h.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 1.6mtr High at 5.50pm.
Tomorrows surf forecast is calling for a similar start to the day with waist to head high waves depending on location and then a nice little bump in size by mid morning. Wind wise I’d be going with the same as it has the last few days, early morning out of the NNW turning West and then South West by early afternoon..
I should also just give you a heads up on the “ground level” situation here in Bali. Up in Canggu this morning the traffic was just as thick and a crazy as you know it to be. I don’t think it’s from Domestic tourism it’s more like most shops resto’s and other businesses are open as per normal in better days. But driving back home through Legian and Kuta / Tuban it was still all but empty. 90% of shops and small business that are usually hustling and bustling are all closed. This could be helping us a little bit as nothing is opened to attract the domestic tourists. Since the opening of Bali to domestic tourists mostly coming from Java (hardest hit by the Corona Virus) Bali’s new positive cases have almost gone through the roof. Indonesia. The national Covid-19 statistics are getting worse by the week. Hopefully our Governor will come to Bali’s rescue. The sooner we get these numbers under control the sooner Bali can return to it’s normal, the normal that we all love so much.
