BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
6th – 8th September
Hello everyone and a special hello to our friends, friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 8th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table.
It’s been a bit touch and go for me the last few days trying to stay focused going into my 9th month of no income and solely relying on help from friends. I thought I’d get back out in the boat and try my luck fishing again on the 6th. Everything started off fine until I got out behind the airport around 1.5km’s from the beach when, as captains do, noticed a sound coming from the motor that shouldn’t be. So I nursed her a little further before making the call to head back to the beach. Better to be safe that sorry, boating in Bali and your pretty much on your own. I made it back just nice and slowly but this didn’t help my head. I spent the 7th tinkering on the engine with a friend and helping him with work on his outriggers. Hopefully, my engine sound be ok to fish again soon.
Today the 8th and my son Ray and I took a run down to Uluwatu to see what the early morning low tide was doing. The charts have changed a little showing the next swell not arriving until later tonight or tomorrow morning. So we were greeted by some super clean 3-4 footers bending down through the Racetrack with 6 surfers in the water and the tide just starting to run back. The wind was light off shore out of the East and some really nice waves coming through.
I do have to apologize for the clarity in some of the photos I shot this morning, my head wasn’t fully in focus I have to put it down to. But I did teach Ray to set up and run the little video cam we have so that worked out well anyway. I think it’s just about time for a new video installment on the baliwaves.
As the tide filled in the focus was moving back to the Main Peak and I’m sure there would have been a few waves for the High tide crew. As we were driving out there was at least another 15 surfers turning up.
Weather wise right now at 3.15pm we have a mostly blue sky and the temperature at 29C, Humidity level is at 69%. The wind has kicked in with gusts of up to 14 knot out of the SE.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we can expect to see wave height a lot bigger than today into the moderate class. Light early morning Easterly wind turning more to the SE by midday.
Ok friends stay safe and thanks again for tuning into baliwaves.com the original Bali surf and weather report website since back in 1999. I’ll get you a more detailed report next time around.

I love your reports but I worry about technology leaving you behind.
Youtube has regular high quality videos of surfing in Bali (some in 4k) that leaves you photo images several levels of magnitude behind in quality and “enjoyment”. dudes in Bali (58k subscribers) and Always Left – dude Surf (2.5k subscribers) have killer videos which are making your still images look dated..
You need to upgrade to a higher level else you will be left behind.
I suggest adding video content to your webpage
Apologies if this comment comes across -ve but I am trying to improve your reach and maybe your futer.
Best of luck
I was one of your last guests that could only stay for the weekend last Jan, I’m going to try and send you some cash as soon as I can I hope your supporters are making a contribution to help you out
Bali Dude,
Slim posts video surf updates most mornings from location via Twitter. Besides, it isn’t the shiny tech that keeps us coming back to Baliwaves, it’s the deep and unrivalled knowledge about Bali breaks, local culture, and his no-nonsense commentary on conditions there. That and the ah, we’ll say “discriminating” eye he has for beach beauty 😉
Not sure if you have noticed but there is a global pandemic happening and my main focus is feeding my family and keeping them safe, like most other people. Great stats I think off the top of my head baliwaves on facebook alone has 114,000 followers before we go to IG or twitter. No income for the last 9 months doesn’t really allow me to buy new equipment like the rich kids here working without proper visas can I guess. Stick with it Bali dude
BTW we have been loading quality video clips on baliwaves.com for the last 21years
Thanks Tom, just another troll probably connected to one of the other dudes hehehe
