BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
18th – 20th October 2020
A BIG hello to everyone tuning in, and a SPECIAL hello to our friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are in our 10th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table.
We hope everyone is surviving the best they can, here at ground level in Bali it really is about survival for the average people. For my self it’s all about getting through one day at a time, and some days are definitely better than others. The pandemic is dragging on and the longer it goes the more damage to the average persons mental health is really being stretched. We have made it through 10 months of no Family income only through the kindness and consideration of our friends. A big deep heart felt thanks to everyone who has considered our well being here in Bali.
Hey everyone well not a lot changed the last couple of days here on the West Coast of Bali. Surf wise you might have seen the last couple of Video Surf Reports I posted on Instagram (@baliwaves) showing a pretty close to flat stretch of ocean between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Yesterday was probably the smallest and a close impression of a lake.
But the forecasters were predicting a slight bump in wave height along with some light and variable wind for today the 20th. So the boys and I made our way over to the East coast around the mid tide mark this morning. As it shows in the photos there were some super fun waves breaking on the Keramas main break. It looked like it was local day this morning and we could hear plenty of laughing and hooting from where we were back up the beach.
Wave height was in the chest to over head class and surfing conditions were clean and glassy while we were on the scene. It wasn’t until just before we packed up that the wind started to shift more to the SSE.
Weather wise over on the East side it was overcast and dull all morning with some light drizzle. Not the best conditions for shooting photos and video but we managed to get through it and get the goods for you guys. Right now at 2.50pm the temperature is a warm 30 degree’s Celsius and Humidity is at 74%. The wind right now has swung back around to the ESE-SE at 15-20km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.4mtr Low at 5.55pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying that we can expect another slight bump in wave height that will probably show better over on the East Coast. The wind is predicted to be light out of the ESE but I’d go for light and variable before 8.30am.
Ok and on the Bali Corona Virus situation well I reckon (im my opinion) nothing much has changed. No one really knows the exact number of infections and Deaths that have happened. All we can really do is stick to the 3 main protocols of wearing face masks, keeping a safe distance from others, avoid crowds and being very persistent with washing our hands. With pretty much open domestic boarders and lots of people not really following these simple rules it would be stupidity to assume that this virus is going away anytime soon.
Hey if anyone else can send us through some surf reports and photos from around Bali we will also be happy to give your business some air time on the baliwaves in exchange during this low to no income pandemic we are feeling.
Like I said it’s day to day living here in Bali, one day it’s a World of depression and the next you have the smile back on your face and a spring in your step, one day at a time.
Ok everyone thanks again for your support and please stay tuned to the baliwaves.com and our more frequent video reports can be found on our Instagram and FB accounts as well.
