BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
12th October 2020
A BIG hello to everyone tuning in, and a SPECIAL hello to our friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 10th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table. If you can spare a dollar please follow this blue link.
We hope everyone is surviving the best they can, here at ground level in Bali it really is about survival for the average people. There is still plenty of cash getting thrown around in certain circles but your average Balinese family unit is really struggling, mine included.
This morning the 12th with an almost carbon copy of yesterdays surfing conditions I thought I’d take a run down to the Southern end of the island. Hopefully to catch some low tide Racetrack action at Uluwatu. It was an easy drive down to Ulu with just standard Bali traffic, a lot easier and safer than with hundreds of visitors lost on motorbikes, that we are dearly missing by the way.
I stumbled into an empty Warung Surya at 8.45am to see wave height in the 3-5ft class between Temple’s and the Racetrack. The tide was running out fast but there was 1 surfer down at Temple’s and 1 other riding the Main Peak for awhile before the emphasis shifted to the low tide Racetrack section. Not every wave was a winner some had a little bump on them, some broke a little too wide. But just like in the Goldie Locks story, some were just right. The wind was straight outta the East and clean off shore on all sections and a total of 15 surfers were in the whole line up while I was on the scene (around 11.00am).
Weather wise today it’s been great pretty well just blue sky and off shore wind out of the E-ESE. Right now at 2.34pm the temp is still a warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 70%. Wind direction is ESE up to 20km/h.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 1.9mtr High at 7.25pm.
The next moon phase is coming up to a New Moon rising on the 16th
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban –1AU$=Rp10,275– but no one has any dollars to change ?
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for a slight bump in wave height through the morning and growing a little more through out the day. Wind direction again predicted to be out of the E-ESE and not quite as strong as today.
Also as I mentioned in yesterdays Surf Report today marks the 18th year to the day that Indonesian terrorists exploded a massive bomb here in Bali killing hundreds of innocent people, both local Indonesians and International tourists. The blast was so big that it woke me up 4kms away to look out off my second story balcony to see Kuta burning.. baliwaves.com was the first media source to post the news of this disaster back in 2002.
Ok everyone thanks again for your support and please stay tuned to the baliwaves.com and our more frequent video reports can be found on our Instagram and FB accounts as well.
