BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
25th March 2021
Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999) For our latest news and the best views from right here on your favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali. Hey what a ride we have ben on the last year or so over here, going from the point of almost being over crowded to almost a deserted ghost town here in the Tuban / Kuta area. No income coming in over this period for us has been a real humbling experience, not that we had much to splash around at the best of times. But we can’t thank our invaluable friends and supporters that have helped my family keep our heads above the water line. We still have awhile to go yet, so please if you can help keep us afloat a little longer we will be forever in your debt. Click this link for a fee free money transfer link via PayPal
Well it certainly has been a nice change back to the sunny weather here in South Kuta. No rain has fell in the last 36hrs and that might be a bit of record for the last 3-4 months. Ok so this morning my spirits were a little higher due to a bad back I’ve had for the last 10 days feeling a little looser. So I grabbed the 600mm Nikon and headed up to “the Gu” seeing as though the wind was light and wave height in the Gu range.
But first I had to get some daily chores done so I never got up there until around 9.00am. I have to say the non stop traffic from Seminyak onwards wasn’t much help. The amount of cars and bikes on the road up in the Canggu area is definitely just about back to pre pandemic, well so it seemed this morning when I was in a hurry to get to where I was going anyway. But as it shows in our latest 50+ photo gallery there was still some nice waves braking from Echo Beach through the Sandbar and down to the River mouth.
Wave height was ranging from chest to well over head high or 2-4ft on the “old original surf call wave height scale” and the wind was a light South Westerly. Even though the wind was light on shore the waves were still clean and glassy on the face. Crowd wise there was no shortage of surfers that’s for sure and the nice sunny blue sky might have had a hand in that. Close to 100 surfers in the water between Echo and Pererenan and then another 150 plus learners down at Batu Bolong and Berawa area.
Weather wise right now at 2.10pm in the Kuta zone we have a mostly blue sky and the temperature is still a warm 31 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 73%. Wind direction is coming out of the W-WSW at7-12kmh.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is saying we can expect a slight drop in wave height and period down from 12 seconds to 11 seconds. Light and variable wind early and we may even see a swing to the SE around midday / early afternoon.
Long Range Surf Forecast is looking pretty grim with no real swell getting through to Indonesia over the coming week. Hopefully early in the first week of April we might see a little relief but nothing special. The synoptic charts are still showing some big High pressure cells dominating the Indian Ocean. Hopefully my back will be good enough to let me get out and hunt for some fresh fish and at least get some Bali Sport Fishing reports out.
On the Bali Corona Virus Not much change information wise except that “Green Zone” vaccination is ramping up. I guess if Indonesia had enough Vaccine to cover all the population things might be a bit different. But hopefully sometime this year the rest of Bali’s general population will be vaccinated, we will just have to wait and see. Talking about Green Zones I can understand why Canggu wasn’t included as it’s pretty mu8ch business as usual and most places of business are open for trade etc. But it would have been good to see Kuta and legian included. These two area’s have always been Bali’s bread and butter when it comes to tourism, pretty much since day 1 of Bali being on the map as a tourist destination. How many businesses are dead in the water and how many out of work in Kuta and Legian compared to Ubud, Sanur and Nusa Dua ?
Ok friends stay in touch and please feel free to drop me an email with any queries you might have for when we do get going again. I think for any visa matters or entry to Bali you will be better off seeking correct info from those government authorities concerned and not so much on Face book.
