BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
2nd March 2021
Thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999. We really are saddened that we can’t keep the on location daily report happening through these extremely hard times here in Bali, but we are doing our best. Sure, there are waves out there just about everyday of the year, somewhere in Bali is always pumping out waves. But the problems are that firstly there is a pandemic happening and Bali has not been exempt from the sickness and deaths that goes with that kind of stuff. Then having to buy petrol to find those good waves with little to no income. Time is one thing we do have, but cash to burn on petrol we don’t I’m sorry. Keeping my family feed and the bills paid have been our No.1 priority, just like most average families here in Bali.
Hello friends and we are extremely grateful to still be here at posting photos, videosand the usual surf and weather info so you can still get your Indo fix. My word it has been a tough haul and now we have well and truly passed the 14 month mark of no income due to none of you being here in Bali yet. Without your support through all this we would be in dire straights for sure. We still have at least another 6 months of this to get through so please don’t give up on us just yet. Anytime you can spare us a dollar we will be eternally grateful.
Rain rain and more rain was the call to see out the end of February but so far the sun has been out and powering up for a not so damp March. It’s usually around this time of the year when everything starts to look a little better with the new “dry season” in sight. With all the rain we have had this wet season, leaking roofs, dead water pumps and leaking water tanks combined with no guests it has been a bit depressing. But what else can we do except sit it out and hold tight as we have done.
Today the 2nd of March it was a pleasure to be shooting photos with my son Ray. Good to be out in the sun and out of the confines of our rented houses walls. Today over on the East coast I do have to say the waves were pretty much pumping through almost non stop. The bigger sets were just about hitting the double head high range with clean glass like texture. While the average size was that super fun head to well over head high or 3-4ft.
We arrived and were set up just around the mid tide and there were in fact 27 surfers in the water on my first head count. Surfing conditions stayed clean and glassy right through until we packed up at 11.00am (I had to get Ray back home for his “on-line school” session). Traffic wise over on the East side it may have been mainly due to time of the day but the roads were quite busy and still a lot of non Bali number plates zipping in and out from lane to lane.
Weather wise it’s been a top day and a nice return back to typical Bali weather. Blue sky from sun up and still right now at 3.20pm. Early morning light and variable wind but now it has dedicated to the WSW with gusts at 10-12kmh. The temperature is also still a warm 31 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is on 66%.
The next tide will be a 0.3mtr Low at 6.12pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is looking like that wave height will drop off slightly but should still be a few waves about. More light and variable wind out of the Northern quadrant before turning to the SSW later in the day.
Bali Corona Virus, well good work with the local and national governments rolling out the vaccinations. Hopefully it will snow ball and Indonesia will reach it’s targets this year, I guess we will have to wait and see. The number of new cases on a dily basis has been lower than what we saw through January and February, great news. The Bali government has also made a couple of changes in regards to Westerners flaunting / disregarding the pandemic protocols laid down with some more strict and severe penalties. Now for Westerners caught violating protocols they will be hit with a Rp1,000,000. fine (around AU$100.00). For repeat offenders or abusive / argumentive tourists these fools will be deported. Better late than never and I hope the “doesn’t apply to me” tourists wake up or get shipped out.
