BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
23rd June 2021
Hello Bali people and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999, for surfers by surfers) We hope everyone is doing the best they can in order to get this crazy World back on track and life and lifes back to where they were before this pandemic began. I’m sure you all know that Bali’s most well know area’s namely Kuta / Legian are still like ghost towns with most doors closed and way too many for sale / rent signs on display.
Here in Tuban just to the South of Kuta is also barren of tourism and also doing it very tough. Usually all the guest hous and Home stay’s are all doing well. But the last year and a half they are all empty, including our place. If any of our friends out there can spare us a dollar it would shore make a big difference for my family. If you can please click this link to get to our PayPal link or contact us directly, Thank You.
Hi friends of Bali, yesterday the 22nd and I did the hard yards (km’s) taking my family up to our family village tucked away under Mt Agung in the Karangasem Regency. It’s always a full day involved with a 3+ hour drive each way. But I do have to say it is so refreshing to be up in the mountains and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This morning the 23rd I took a run down to Uluwatu hoping to see some new swell and shoot a few fresh photos for you, As it turned out after a slow start things turned out pretty good as they usually do. With a new solid double over head swell hitting the Main Peak at Uluwatu. With only a handful of surfers in the water with the tide starting to run out around 9.30am. But by 10.30am there was a steady stream of surfers arriving and before I packed up our camera equipment there would have been at least 30 surfers spread between Temples and the Main Peak.
Surfing conditions down at Uluwatu were perfect June conditions with a fresh Easterly off shore wind on the waves and clean direction out of the SW. Warm water and blue sky has to be an added extra attraction right.
Driving home past Padang Padang and Impossibles the baby reef off Padang Padang was pretty well packed with middle aged learners. While there were also quite a few surfers spread through the long section of rock and reef known as Impossibles. It looked like there were plenty of lines peeling off through the middle section. I’d imagine Balangan would have also been getting some nice fun sized waves as well.
Weather wise today it’s been pretty good here in Bali with the midday temperature hitting 31 degree’s on the Celsius scale. Right now at 4.35pm the Off shore Easterly is still blowing strong here on the West Coast.
The tide has just turned off the bottom and now running in for a 2.1mtr High later tonight around 9.00pm. Tomorrow the 24th also has a Full Moon rising so more big tidal ranges on the way.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying that wave height will back off some through out the day but we can still expect waves at just about every location again. More fresh E-ESE wind is predicted.
Further out another bump of swell is in transit for the 25-26th and then again on the 26th to see out the month of June.
Ok that’s it for me crew it’s been a long couple of days. But we will be back again soon with the latest news and best views to keep you in the loop with your favorite surfing holiday island of Bali.

Gezz those close ups are so focus and sharp from so far away!
It still amazes me to see it, love the shots mate, love ya work!
Thanks for ya efforts!
Thanks again Nick, yes I probably own the (oldest) but most powerful still fixed lens here in Bali. It is an old manual focus 1000mm lens that I’ve owned for around 23yrs that was given to me second hand from a friend. That’s why most of our guests keep coming back to stay with us, along with the super cheap and family like accommodation they love the photos I give them from this lens as memories of their time here in Bali. That lens gets in so tight and sharp I love shooting with it anywhere from Uluwatu to Balian
