Bali Surf & Weather report (PPKM)
31st July -1st August 2021
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since 1999) We today is the last day of the PPKM / imposed restrictions in most of Indonesia, so hopefully we should here the verdict on it being extended or just let go. Numbers are still currently very high with new infection cases in Bali and most of Indonesia. For more information on Bali’s Covid-18 situation check out this group for all the latest information

Well yesterday the 31st and wave height had dropped off quite a lot from the macking swell we had across Bali on the previous day. Yesterday on the Outer Reefs wave height was a very fun sized head to slightly over head high on Kuta Reef and maybe a few double hea dhigh set waves hitting Middle Reef. I was down on the beach early to “de foul” the bottom of my old out rigger that is anchored 40mtrs off the beach, so after that was done I took a quick run out to Kuta Reef for our first video surf report.
Conditions at Kuta Reef were looking really good and set to keep getting better over the next couple of hours so I dashed back home and grabbed our camera gear before heading back out to KR and shoot these photos in today’s gallery. For my surf report there were only 5 surfers in the water but I do have to admit the tide was still a touch too low. Then through the peak of my session there was maybe 20 or so surfers out there. Anyone who has surfed Kuta Reef pre pandemic would know that that is a super low number. Especially for a wave that peels off perfectly for 100mtrs.
I’ve tried to post at least 1 photo of everyone that was in the water for this session. Just for the record I actually shott 1005 photos. So it’s been a long 24 hrs processing them all.
Weather wise yesterday it was mostly hot and sunny with fresh off shore ESE wind.
This morning the 1st of August and I’m still at home getting this on line for you guys, it’s now 10.40am. So I haven’t been down for a surf check yet but will be soon. I’d also bet the house (if I owned one) that a new swell is slamming into Bali. I’ll load a Video report asap on baliwaves face book and Instagram.
Weather wise outside it is mostly clear and sunny outside but we did get some rain getting blown in from somewhere around 9.00am. The ESE Trade wind is already kicking in and currently blowing at around 15-17knot.
Ok thanks again everyone for all your support and we really can’t wait for all our friends to be allowed back into Bali. We are still taking orders for our original Baliwaves tee shirts, please help us out and put in your order for a totally Bali / Indonesian made quality tee for 12 dollars. We make around $3.50 per shirt and that goes pretty much straight to my wife to help buy our families food. Check this link for the tee shirts https://www.baliwaves.com/2021/06/help-baliwaves-get-through-the-bali-corona-virus-cash-flow-crisis-with-a-rp90000-original-baliwaves-tee-shirt/
Thanks again everyone for all your support over the last 23 years. Please stay safe and and keep the Bali/ Indo dream alive.

Looks like some kooks in the lineup Slim! How many out Middles mate?
Slim says
Yes Greg there were quite a few learners relatively new to surfing in the line up and that definitely duplicates at just about every location in Bali at the moment, most are pretty friendly but also a few ahh.. snobby ones. Not used to the easy going friendly surf culture in Bali that once was in place for so many years pre COVID-19. Not many surfers out at Middles unless it’s around the head high mark.
