Bali Surf & Weather report (PPKM)
8th – 9th August 2021
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since 1999). Bali is still currently under micro restrictions (PPKM) that are in force until today the 9th where at some point in time today we will hear of another extension or not. Although Bali’s domestic airport and inter island ferry service are open it is now only for fully vaccinated people.
I went for a troll up to Tahnalot on the 7th, wave height was pretty small all the way up the West Coast that I was going over. No fish just lots of rubbish that had been newly flushed out of the rivers from all the rain we have had last week.
Yesterday the 8th and my surf checks on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing a few smallish waves hitting Kuta Reef and Airport Left, 1-3ft. But Middle Reef was peeling off some nice and un crowded waves on the afternoon low tide and well over head on the set waves.
Today the 9th and as it shows in our latest photo gallery to be seen outside of Bali there was still a few nice waves hitting Uluwatu. Temples was looking really nice with some long and clean rides and maybe only around 10 surfers on it. While the Main Peak was picking up some slightly bigger waves in the head to well over head high class. The Peak’s crowd hit a max of maybe 30 surfers while I was on the scene from 9.00am – 10.45am.
With wave height in a more manageable size, I was expecting to see a lot more international visitors in the water. But talking to a local friend down there he said numbers have dropped right off at Uluwatu the last couple of weeks
Weather wise today it’s been mostly hot and sunny, typical Bali weather. Right now, at 1.40pm the temperature is on 29 degrees Celsius, Humidity is at 78%. Wind direction is, and has been pretty well all morning fresh and gusty out of the E-SE.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for another slight drop in wave height with more fresh and gusty E-ESE wind. Further out we should see another solid swell hitting Bali and most of Indonesia on the 11th, peaking on the 12th. Whether this swell in transit is as big as our last one we will have to wait and see. It is going to get solid but maybe not quite as intense as the last one.

Dear Slim,
First of all: thank you so much for the photos and surf information on Baliwaves. I do appreciate it, especially in these so very difficult times, for all of us. I hope you and your family are well.
By not being able to come to Bali, Baliwaves keeps somehow Bali alive.
It is just one thing, being a female human being, all the photos on Baliwaves with denuded backsides of other females, are not good to look at. Yes, they have chosen to wear this kind of bikini bottoms and like to show off, but still, not all females think it is a nice way to look at. It supports the view, that women are just a piece of meat.
Take care.
Jennifer
Hello Jennifer and I trust you also are well and healthy,
I’m sorry you feel that way as Bali’s lifestyle is all about board shorts and bikinis. WE keep our photos composed and proportioned as to not offend the actual people that appear in these photographs and have no complaints.
Which other surfing websites magazines do you look at ? I’m sure even the all girl websites / magazines have pretty girls in bikinis right ?
We won’t be changing our format and if you have to say goodbye to baliwaves, we wish you all the best.
Cheers from Bali
Slim
