Hello Bali people not much change for the tourism sector here on the once thriving holiday island. Our Bali International airport did open as I mentioned before. But since it’s opening on the 14th of October not one international flight has landed in Bali. There was also a press statement from the airport saying that there are no international flights scheduled to land in Bali for the remainder of 2021.
We really want to Thank all our friends and supporters for all the help that you have given us to help get us this far, we are almost through this. Please don’t give up on us through this last leg of “containment” So if you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Hi crew and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves, the original Bali surf report since back when it all began in 1999. As you have gathered over the last couple of years of this pandemic, we really can’t afford to drive around the island chasing waves like we normally do in better times. But we are still doing our best to keep you all in the loop through our social media feeds. If you scroll down the page here at Home Base you will see our latest “morning surf and weather video report” that we load up each morning / afternoon. But rest assured as soon as things improve and we start seeing guests back staying and surfing with us we will be back to our normal daily surf tonic.
This morning I thought I would try and get over to the East Coast and see what was happening at the always in fashion location of Keramas. I was also working with the early morning mid-range high tide. Arriving on the scene at 8.30am to find the wind still only just there and surfing conditions clean as. I was surprised to only find a handful of surfers in the water, only six in the lineup. Before I could even get the camera set up we were down to five. But a few more surfers turned up over the next hour pushing the crowd to a maximum of a mellow crew of ten.
I was just getting ready to pack up it was a hot and humid morning out on the black sand without any shade. When one of my local friends Mr Agung turned up and pretty much insisted that I accompany him back to his place in his nearby “Desa” for a coffee. I’d been putting him off for years so I finally excepted the genuine offer and spent a couple of hours being spoiled and chatting with his parents and checking out all the cool plants and fruit tree’s they had at home.
Weather wise in my travels today it was a hot and humid morning after a night full of heavy rain. Lots of blue sky and light and variable wind. Right now, at 3.10pm the sky has clouded over and I will get a fix on the win when I head down for my afternoon surf check on Kuta reef. Just for the record, over at Keramas according to my GPS phone compass the direction was SE-SSE. After the wind check I called my friend Mr Kadek back home on the West Coast and Kadek was calling WSW wind. Quite often you will find 2-3 different wind directions on Bali depending where you are on the island.
The last Moon Phase for 2021 will in fact be a Full Moon (Purnama) on the 18th of December. According to my Bali (wall) calendar and my Bali (app) Calendar. You can count on the Balinese for letting you know when these two very important times are each month (full / New Moons)
I also have to say that the East Coast was a nice drive compared to the traffic and pollution up along the Canggu area. No stop start traffic grid locks and more patient and courteous drivers today.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we can expect a very slight drop in wave height, but not enough to make much difference. And believe it or not (I’ll wait and see) the wind is predicted to be out of the East and off shore here along Bali’s wave riddled West Coast.
We would also like to get in early and wish all our viewers a very Merry Christmas. It will be pretty quiet for most of us here in Bali. Stay say and see you here ASAP.
