Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the one and only original Bali Surf Report website (since 1999), Well firstly we hope that your New Year is getting off to a better start than what we are still experiencing here in Bali. Surf wise the last couple of months it’s been a real drought for any waves of substance. So it’s been a sight for sore eyes to see some swell hitting our East Coast of Bali. Also great to see a window of weather without rain..
As it shows in today’s photo gallery there was indeed some nice waves wrapping into Keramas this morning as the tide was pushing in. I arrived around 9.45am as the tide was filling in and the sky returned to overcast with the threat of more rain. Wave height was a nice and fairly frequent head to well over head and even a couple of freak sets pushing double head high. I was also pretty amazed to see that there was only 8 surfers in the water. Peaking at 14 surfers an hour later.
Surfing conditions were super clean with hardly a breath of wind. The only thing that was happening was the old constant barrels that used to be the norm. I think I only saw 3 waves barrel in the hour and a half I was on the scene. There were also a few surfers scoring some nice waves down the beach at Carparks. I called it a day just before the rain started and by the time I was 20mins down the road the sky opened up big time.
Weather wise right now at2.00pm there’s still a few drops of rain with the wind light out of the WSW.
The next tide will be a 0.7mtr Low at 5.22pm, check our “surfing in Bali link in the menue for more tidal and weather information. We have just passed through the Full moon phase (17th January). The next New Moon with occur on the 1st of February.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for a slight drop in wave height with the swell direction still coming out of the SSW. But unfortunately the wind is predicted to be fresh out of the WSW with gusts up to 16knot.
Ok still not much chance or tourism returning yet to the parts of Bali that really need it. There is still a 7 day quarantine in Jakarta in place and no free visa’s only the expensive “B211” visa available. Everyone I know here in Tuban are hurting bad and Kuta is still a big empty ghost town. But still, we are living in hope. When they choose to open Bali again is anyone’s guess.
