Ok so back on the 18th we were left with a fading swell and only 1-2 foot waves breaking between Kuta reef and Airport Left. It was only small but with a light and clean wind there was still fun to be had. Then yesterday the 19th we did see a nice bump in wave height with those 1-2 footers jumping into the 2-4ft class between Kuta reef and Airport left / Right. For most of the day the wind was light on shore out of the WSW but around 5pm the wind dropped right out for the afternoon low tide.
So with some swell in our sights this morning (20th) my son Ray and I loaded the camera equipment into the car (we still had half a tank of gas) and cruised over to the East Coast to check out Keramas. We chose Keramas cause my earlier 7.30am surf check on the Outer reefs of South Kuta (Kuta Reef to Airport left) had wave height still in the 2-4ft range but with the wind out of the WNW. Even though the wind was fresh on shore on the Outer Reefs there was another big turn out of learner surfers.
But hey as it shows in this photo gallery I’ve loaded Keramas was cranking with a super consistent 2-4ft and the occasional bigger double head high set wave. The wind by the time we arrived had swung more to the WSW but was still pretty light. Although slowly increasing and tending a little moreto the South by the time we packed up. The local boys as expected were dominating the grinding right handers and puting on a great display both forehand and backhand. Crowd wise there was around 20 surfers in the water while we were on the scene.
Weather wise over on the East coast it was perfect with blue sky and faster shutter speeds available. Right now at 3.00pm the temp here in South Kuta is still a warm 30 degrees Celsius, Humidity level is at 77%. Wind direction over here is out of the West at 21km/h
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we can expect a slight drop in wave height and more WSW wind through out the day.
