Hello everyone and thanks again for staying tuned to the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999).
Well yesterday we thought wave height was backing off. Well, it was over where we had been surfing the last couple of days. So we thought with the light wind that we might duck down to Uluwatu and score some nice waves. Arriving down at at Indo’s premier surfing location to find an empty car park, except for a few monkeys looking for mischief. We took a quick look before grabbing our gear and wave height looked a fun 2-4ft between the Racetrack and the Main Peak with 6 surfers in the water. Looking good with the tide starting to run in and the wind light and variable.
But as the tide did start to roll back in hard and fast so did wave height boost up into the 4-6ft class (pushing triple head high). It also seemed that as soon as the tide did start to roll in it was like a department store opening up for a massive Boxing Day sale. At one stage I counted 100 surfers from the Racetrack up to Temple’s, a lot of carnage. But there was also some very good surfing going down as well.
Today the 23rd and after our yesterday afternoon surf check on the Outer Reefs we thought we might be in for a few sly waves out on Kuta reef this morning. At 7.00am it was showing all the signs of delivering some fun waves on the run-in tide. But.. as it panned out the waves were few and far between and pushing shoulder high on the better ones. It really was a perfect day and perfect waves for all the surf schools that turned up at Kuta Reef today.
Weather wise today it has been perfect with blue sky this morning and still nothing but blue sky right now at 1.45pm. Currently the mercury is on 3 degrees Celsius, Humidity is at 74%. Wind direction is out of the WSW at 8-10knot.
The next tide today will be a 0.5mtr Low at 7.23pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for a nice bump in wave height (that I was expecting today) with the period changing from 12 secs to 15 seconds. Wind direction is predicted to be light and variable out of the Northern quadrant before swinging SSE later in the afternoon.
Ok crew thanks again for tuning in and as soon as I get a chance, I’ll have a look at yesterday’s video footage that Ketut shot and see if I can get a quick video edit out of it.
We also have our first Aussie surfer / guest staying with us in more than 2 years. Our man did his 4-day part quarantine and passed all tests with flying colours to be given a free pass to come and surf the best of what Bali has on offer with us. I’m going to get “Jono” to give us a kind of interview and let you all know how to deal with getting back to Bali and everything you need to know and have beforehand. But fingers crossed the 4-day semi quarantine for double or triple vaccinated guests will soon be a memory.
