Hello everyone and thanks again for staying tuned to the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999).
Ok, so the last few days have been a mixed bag of miniscule swell and dodgy on shore variable wind along our West Coast. My son Ray and I did make the most of the lack of swell and light variable wind and took our old boat down to Uluwatu to try and put some fish in the freezer. Boating conditions were nice and great to be out on the water but crossing the opening of Jimbaran Bali the flotsam and jetsam was horrendous and we had to take it very slowly. Likewise, pretty much everywhere down from Bingin to Uluwatu there were stand out current lines loaded with rubbish. I could only imagine how bad it must have been further up the West coast from Canggu onwards.
Today the 5th and as forecasted wave height did jump into a very fun sized 2-4ft between Kuta reef and Airport Left. Ketut and I motored around in the channel off Kuta Reef and shot some photos and video before the tide filled in. No shortage of learner surfers on the Outer Reefs this morning and conditions were tip top for them. Kuta Reef was delivering 4-6 waves per set averaging in the head to slightly over head class. But what made it accessible for the learners was lack of double sucking barrels that Kuta Reef is well known for.
Weather wise it was a mostly sunny morning but still a few pesky clouds blocking my light every now and again. Right now, at 3.00pm we have just had a nice cooling few drops of rain in the South Kuta area. Temperature is currently on 31 degrees Celsius; Humidity is at 78%. Wind direction is now coming out of the SW at 2-4knot.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we can expect to see a little more motion on the ocean with another small spike in wave height. I think we will be seeing more light and variable wind throughout the morning before dedicating to the W-SW by the afternoon.
The next tide today will be a 0.4mtr Low at 6.15pm

Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban, 1AU$=Rp10,550 — 1US$=Rp14,100 Rates do vary from vendor to vendor but mostly similar. Don’t forget to ask for a little higher rate if your changing a few dollars. It never hurts to ask.
Still no Tourists on the streets of Tuban or Kuta and I really do feel people are still holding off while the mandatory hotel booking and extra PCR testing in place. Basically, we just have all the B211 and B211a visa holders dominating Bali as tourists. Hopefully things will change soon, the numbers, if being crunched must be indicating this.
