Hello everyone and thanks again for staying tuned to the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999).
Thanks to our guest reporter Jeroen from the ever-popular BOUTIQUE BALI HOTEL located at BINGIN That goes by the name of SWELL BALI for these photos from Uluwatu he shot yesterday.
Uluwatu, April 13 around 13.30, pretty much at low tide of 1.3 meter. Swell has dropped overnight to a little overhead at Ulus. There were still fun waves at temples, The Peak and some good ones peeling through at the track.
Definitely new faces in and around Uluwatu / Bingin area, and more smiles from the locals at the warungs as they can start to make a living again for their families.
While here in Tuban yesterday wave height was also dropping out with only some 1-3ft waves breaking between Kuta reef and Airport left. Not the best waves for you hard core surfers but it was “game on” for the surf schools and numerous learner surfers that have been reveling in the small easy going waves we have had of late.
Today the 14th and my 8.00am surf check, (I really didn’t feel there was a need to rush down there this morning) was as expected showing another dip on the wave height graph. Kuta Reef to Middle Reef was hardly breaking as the tide was reaching towards the top of the morning high tide. Although Airport left was a fairly consistent waist to chest high plus. The wind was light out of the West but surfing conditions were still clean and smooth.
Another perfect day for the crew learning to surf here in Bali. The Reef Taxi crew were working over time again this morning running backwards and forwards with smiles all round. One good thing about the surf schools is that they are really saving the reef taxi boys from poverty. They really have had a good run of small learner friendly waves so far this year. But we know that those long period big straight ruler edged walls will soon be pouring out of the Indian Ocean and truly lighting up Indo’s reef breaks. Soon, very soon…
Weather wise today it’s been another hot and sunny day here on the holiday island. The wind was light on shore earlier but now at 12.40 it is fresh out of the ESE and blowing clean off shore from Kuta to Uluwatu. Temperature wise the mercury is currently sitting on 31C, Humidity is at 73%.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.6mtr Low at exactly 3.00pm and the next moon phase will see a Full Moon rising on the 16th.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling wave height to be still on the downside throughout the day. The wind is predicted to be out of the Eastern quadrant. Looking for the best waves try Uluwatu or the beach breaks first thing in the morning. Good Luck, because I’ll be out fishing!
Just now out the front of home the Money Exchangers were still offering Rp10,450 for 1 Australian dollar.
