Hi folks and welcome back to Bali’s original surf and weather report website. Keeping it real from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination. Yesterday the 31st and Bali was still getting bombarded with solid waves on both sides of the island. We had to do a midday airport run to pick up a good fried so we couldn’t get out and shoot more material. But our afternoon surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban / South Kuta still had lots of swell rolling through. Kuta Reef was still pretty much the only ridable section of the reef and there were quite a few turned up for it.
This morning the 1st of September we decided on returning to one of our fav breaks down on the bukit, Balangan. Wave height had dropped off quite a bit from the solid lines of the onslaught of the new swell. But all the same there were still a few double head high plus set waves. Clean as you may surfing conditions with the tide running in and wind off shore SE. Low numbers in the line up at maybe 10-15 when we arrived at 9.00am.
Today we were very lucky indeed to be presented with a new camera to use for baliwaves, thanks to our good friend and supporter JS. So today was a bit like “training day” for us as this beast has a massive 24 – 3000mm telephoto zoom lens that also gives us an “auto” function along with shooting full 4K video. Like I said this new camera from Nikon is a beast. Ketut and I took turns at taming her today and we still have a lot to learn to be able to use it to it’s fullest. But so far so good.
Weather wise today our morning started off with a grey and overcast sky, rain was delivered. With the sun finally busting through the clouds around 10.ooam.
Tomorrows Swell Forecast is calling for pretty much exactly the same size waves and conditions as we have had today.
Ok that’s it for now I’ve got camera batteries to get charged up again ready for tomorrows session. Stay tuned to us through the morning for our video surf report.
