Yesterday afternoon’s sun set surf check on the Outer reefs here in South Kuta / Tuban was still only showing wave height in the 1-1ft+ range between Kuta reef and Airport left. We were expecting to see a forecasted bump in wave height but it appeared this swell was running a bit late, on Bali time maybe. But we knew it was coming.
So this morning we headed down to Uluwatu to see how things were lining up. Arriving at 7.15am and found the missing swell. At first glance it looked like wave height (through the thick sea mist) was only in the head to double head high range. But after the first batch of sets rolled through from the Bombie we knew it was more like double to triple head high plus. There were already around 30-35 surfers in the line up between The Peak and the top of the Track, with a couple of middle aged push in pseudo surfers thrown in as well. When the mist cleared there was a good tube riding show on as well.
All in all I’d have to say that today wasn’t your all time perfect Uluwatu, or even close to it for that matter. Most of the morning there wasn’t much wind at all and it really put a wobble into the waves. We hung out until almost midday and by that time there were a few waves starting to run through the Racetrack by then the wind was more SSE.
Weather wise today we have had it all, early morning rain, overcast sky turning to blue and then back to overcast again. Right now at 3.30pm the temp is still a warm 29C with the Humidity at 79%. Wind direction is now coming out of the SE-SSE at 10knt.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for only slightly smaller waves again with more early light and variable wind before the ESE-SE Tradewind kicks in around mid morning.
Ok crew thanks again for tuning in and we hope you like today’s reports and photos. We will be back out on the beat again tomorrow so stick with the original Bali surf report.
Breaking News Department. Well I don’t know if all of you are up to date on this but as of 2 days ago the price of Petrol increased by 30% in one jump. So looking at the big picture with Bali being a small island we can expect the price of everything to follow suit, and I do mean absolutely everything. It’s going to be very hard on a lot of people especially just after living through the pandemic.
