Hey hi crew and thanks again for dropping in for another run down on our current surfing and weather conditions from here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali. Yesterday the 13th and wave height was right down to almost as small as it gets here in Bali add in a strong ESE Trade wind and it doesn’t leave to many options for a wave. So knowing that we spent out morning at Indonesia’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu.
As it shows in out current photo gallery wave height was only in the 1-3ft range with a very very rare slightly over head freak set hitting the Main Peak and Temple sections of Ulu. Photo’s taken at Uluwatu are almost always taken from the perched up cliff side warungs with quite a lot of elevation. This tends to make the waves appear bigger in the photos that their actual height at sea level.
Yesterday as you would expect at any beach when there are not many other options it was pretty crowded with learners wanting to have a crack at the famous Uluwatu in Bali. Apart from a few local surfers and a handful of International surfers that’s how it was. The Main Peak had a little order on it but off to the side it was a bit of a free for all, and at the same time a little dangerous with boards going everywhere. Uluwatu, even at 1-3ft can still have enough power to turn a surfboard into a deadly weapon.
Weather wise yesterday, well it was clear and sunny when we left home in South Kuta but by the time we drove down to the Southern end of the island it was quite overcast and only small patches of blue sky.
Today the 14th and our 6.30am surf check on the Outer reefs of Tuban was showing a very low tide with lots of reef out of the water. No chance of a wave on Kuta Reef or Airport left. But there were 2 lone surfers out on Middle Reef and chest to head high set waves. The off shore ESE wind was already kicking in and will gradually gain momentum through out the day.
Hopefully by this afternoon wave height should bump up a notch for the late arvo session.
Weather wise out there this morning it’s a mostly sunny morning here in the Kuta area. Temperature wise right now at 10.10am it’s a nice warm 29C with the Humidity at 82%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE-SSE at 10-12knt.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 2.2mtr High at exactly 11.57am
Tomorrow’s surf forecast is calling for a much appreciated increase in wave height and more fresh / gusty ESE-SE wind.
Ok crew that’s us for today, I might try to get out for a fish this afternoon it’s been a long time between feeds of fresh fish. If I do I’ll post a video report into our baliwaves Facebook page with a surf up date.
Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 5kg refill’s have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone.
