Hi friends we really want to thank everyone who has helped us get through the pandemic and total lack of income. I’m so happy to see the speed at which Bali is coming back into swing again. But baliwaves needs camera equipment to carry on, usually we upgrade / burn out our old gear around every 4 yrs. This time round we went 6yrs and were very lucky to get through. But hopefully (fingers crossed) we are on track and on the come back trail again. Please don’t give up on us through this as hopefully we are on the last leg. If you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Please don’t hesitate to Please don’t hesitate to drop us an email for any surfing accommodation info and we’ll do our best to help out.
Yesterday the 8th after a long night of heavy rain, thunder and lightning I was waiting for first light so I could get down the beach. Hoping my boat was still afloat and not half under. At first sight it was sitting low in the water, like most of the traditional fishing boats moored just out off the beach. There wasn’t much happening in the way of surf but there was enough breaking between Kuta reef / Airport left to get the surf schools excited. Just after first light there were big groups arriving to go surf the reefs. I ended up settling for taking my boat for a troll up to Canggu to see if I could get something to BBQ. Just too much fresh water after a long weak of wet and wild weather.
This morning my mate Eddy and I put our trust in the internets crystal ball forecast and headed for the East Coast on dawn. Things were not looking real good on arrival. The swell had bumped up into the 3-5ft class but with a Easterly wind. Lots of rain laden clouds buzzing around between Lembongan and Bali and it wasn’t long before the rain started. Now, if you know the set up at Keramas it was the best thing that could happen. Because as soon as the rain let up the wind switched to a light off shore wind that lasted for a good 90 minutes.
If only the sun would have come out the photos would have looked a lot better but ya can’t always get what you want right. We were happy enough to see some clean and meaty waves hitting Keramas. For a little while I thought the internet had lied to us hahaha.
Weather wise, wet and windy over on the East Coast. Right now at 2.45pm the sun is busting out here in South Kuta, temperature is on 31C humidity is at 80%. Even though it was overcast with rain this morning it was still uncomfortably humid. Wind direction is currently ESE at 10-12knt and off shore from Kuta to Uluwatu.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast has the wave models calling wave height to drop off a notch or two. Early morning light ENE variable wind before turning SE and then to the SSE through the afternoon.
Well that’s all from me today but we will indeed be back out on the wave hunt again in the morning. I’ll get a video surf n weather video report up on the baliwaves facebook page early.
We have also added some boardshorts and trucker caps into our original baliwaves surf wear page so check it out and order up some quality made apparel exclusive to baliwaves.

Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 5kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone.
