Hi friends we really want to thank everyone who has helped us get through the pandemic and total lack of income. I’m so happy to see the speed at which Bali is coming back into swing again. But baliwaves needs camera equipment to carry on, usually we upgrade / burn out our old gear around every 4 yrs. This time round we went 6yrs and were very lucky to get through. But hopefully (fingers crossed) we are on track and on the come back trail again. Please don’t give up on us through this as hopefully we are on the last leg. If you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Please don’t hesitate to drop us an email for any Bali surfer accommodation info and we’ll do our best to help out.
Today the 5th the boys and I thought we would take advantage of the light and variable wind and take a ride down to Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. We haven’t been down to Ulu for a couple of weeks so I was looking forward to catching up some of our long time friends down there. I’m sure that every surfer that has ever hang out down at Uluwatu has at least 1 good friend in the area.
It was a dull grey overcast morning here in South Kuta this morning but as we got closer to Uluwatu the weather started to break. It was just a tease though as we were soon back under big dull looking rain ladden clouds again. The wind wasn’t looking as it was predicted to be with tree’s and flags we passed waving at us from a Southerly direction.
Things were not too bad with Uluwatu still delivering waves in the 3-4ft+ class with some very clean sections peeling through the Racetrack as the tide continued on it’s run out. The Main Peak and Temple sections were a bit blown and the tide not quite deep enough. Thought there were a few surfers on it and I’m sure they would have looked better earlier.
Weather wise it was overcast all morning and we did hit some heavy rain on the way back home around 11.30am. Right now at 4.00pm the temperature is still on 27C , humidity is at 85%. Wind direction right now is almost non existent just a light SSE-S breeze in the 1-3knt. I’ll be going for a swim out to our traditional fishing boat (moored) later this arv to bail her out after all the rain so I might get an afternoon surf and weather video report on our FB page later on.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast has the wave models predicting wave height to taper off a little more through out the day, on a period of 13seconds. Wind direction is predicted to be fresh out of the S-SSE early before tending more SE-E through late afternoon.
Ok so we will wait and see what the day brings, my guess is more overcast conditions with a few drops falling somewhere on the island. I was hoping to get out in the boat tomorrow and put some fish in the freezer but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what the dawn brings. Thanks again for tuning in, back soon with more news and views from your favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
We have also added some boardshorts and trucker caps into our original baliwaves surf wear page so check it out and order up some quality made apparel exclusive to baliwaves.

Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 5kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone.
