Hello friends and thanks for sticking around to see how the cookie crumbled with my current situation. Well I gotta tell ya what a complete shock to the system, Cancer, who’d a thought it. Something we just don’t know until bang. This particular type that attacked me was viciously aggressive and almost got me in only 3 months of finding it. I knew something was wrong and so lucky I never shrugged it off like most blokes actually do. I got onto it just in time and luckily followed up the treatment in my home country where good health care is a reality.

I can’t tell you how much pain I went through until I was taught to manage the pain, well the pain needed to be checked and the pain treatment (oxycodone type) also really needs to be managed. It took me a week to get on top of it and all sleepless nights of bouncing off the wall in agony. Then there is the uncertainty of the operation and all the tests and scans leading up to it. The John Hunter Hospital surgeons in NSW were not leaving anything to chance and left no test undone. After 5 weeks in hospital I finally had my day on the surgeons table. It lasted for a grueling 9hrs. So I was stoked when my vison cleared and I realized I was out of surgery. Even more stoked when a bleary shaped surgeon came and stood in front of me and told me my operation was a success and my bladder and everything attached had not been removed. Just the Alian living in there trying to kill me.

Present day, Post Op Day 4 and my team of surgical saviors are already telling me I can go home and enjoy recovering in a much more pleasant environment. I’m in, but still moving slowly with pain and still not free of the pain medication, although I have cut my frequency down to a much safer level. The next couple of months are going to be full of scans and recovery. I can’t tell you how much I am missing my Family in Bali and I know they are missing their Dad big time. There’s just nothing I can do about it and that’s what hurts, not being there to provide and guide them.

Today’s photo gallery is courtesy of my Brother in Law Mr Ketut who has been keeping the show on the road when ever there’s some wave action Ketut is all over it. This was Keramas over on the East Coast on the 13th and conditions and crowds both looked pretty good. As soon as I get some more pain less movement and in a nicer environment I’ll get back on the baliwaves program again. Thanks for understanding and your patience with us.
