Balangan Surf Report – Monday 10th August 2026
Ketut was down at Balangan for the morning check and reported wave height sitting in the 3 to 5 foot range with a few bigger ones swinging through on the outside. The wind was offshore right through which kept the faces clean and lining up across the reef. Ketut mentioned the sets were carrying plenty of push behind them with the longer range swell running in, so the better waves were worth waiting for rather than grabbing the first thing that came along. Crowd wise it stayed manageable with surfers spread out along the peak instead of everyone sitting on the one spot.
As the morning went on Ketut said the water draining off the early high made the waves stand up harder on the inside section. The bigger sets were the pick of it, holding a proper wall right through and giving surfers a long run before it shut down over the shallower part of the reef. The offshore stayed light the whole time Ketut was there so the surface never got messy. He mentioned the surfers sitting deeper were the ones getting the waves that ran the furthest, and those were the ones worth the wait.
Weather & Tides
Right now it is sitting around 24C at Balangan with the offshore breeze keeping things comfortable through the morning. On the tides today we had a high around 8:42am before the water started draining away to a low near 3:44pm, then filling back in to a smaller high about 10:12pm. That drop through the middle of the day is what put more shape into the waves, though it also left the inside a little shallow so it paid to pick the ones running wide.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead there is a fair bit more size on the way. Tuesday is shaping up as the biggest of it with 7 to 8 foot on the sets and a long 15 second period behind it, so there should be plenty of waves getting through. Wednesday eases back a touch to around the 6 to 7 foot mark before Thursday picks up a little again with another long range pulse. That is a solid run of size for the week so early mornings will be the best call before the local wind builds. Worth a look at the swell forecast for the full picture.
