East Coast Surf Report – Saturday 15th August 2026
Ketut was back over on the East Coast on Saturday and got down there just on 9am. Wave height was sitting in the 4 foot range with a few bigger ones coming through on the sets. Winds were offshore so the surf was clean and tidy from the word go. Crowd wise there were around 20 surfers out, mostly medium level guys, and with waves spread along the reef there were still plenty getting through for everyone.
Ketut mentioned the sets kept lining up across the reef right through the morning with a decent gap between them. The longer range swell running at around 15 seconds gave the waves a bit of push, so the bigger ones were standing up properly before they broke. Once the water started to fill in the wave got a little more forgiving and a few of the crew were finding longer rides down the line. Crowd stayed manageable the whole time, surfers were spread across the peak rather than all sitting on the one spot which kept the wave count up.
Weather & Tides
Right now it is sitting around 24C with light winds about and it was a sunny day out there for Ketut. On the tides today we had an early low around 6:45am which left the reef a little shallow first up before the water started filling in through the morning. The next high is due around 1pm before easing back down to a low around 6:45pm, so there should be enough water over the reef through the middle of the day.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead there should still be a few waves about through the start of the week. Monday is showing around 4 foot with a 14 second period behind it, then Tuesday picks up a little into the 4 to 5 foot range on a longer 15 second period. Wednesday is the pick of the days with 5 to 6 foot on the cards and a 16 second period, so there should be a bit of size around by mid week. Winds are looking variable through that run so the early mornings will be the best call before the local wind builds. Have a look at the swell forecast for the full picture.
