East Coast Surf Report – Sunday 27th and Monday 28th September 2026
We made a trip with Ketut over on the East Coast early yesterday adn this morning and found wave height sitting in the 2 to 3 foot range with a few 4 footers coming through on the bigger sets. The wind was light offshore first up which kept the faces clean and tidy across the reef. Crowd wise there were around 10-15 surfers out.
The catch was the waiting. There were long gaps between the sets, so patience paid off more than paddling around looking for a wave. On the plus side, this morning was more consistent than yesterday morning, so there were more waves getting through overall. The light offshore held until around 9:30 when a light onshore started kicking in and put a bit of texture on the surface. Nothing that wrecked it, but the early window was clearly the better call and anyone in the water before then got the cleanest of it.
Weather & Tides
Right now it is sitting around 25C with sunny skies and only a light breeze about, so it has been a warm one out there all day. On the tides today, the water was filling in through the early part of the morning up to a high around 11am, which put plenty of water over the reef and helped the waves line up a bit better as the session went on. From there it drained back to a low around 5pm this afternoon, with the next high due around 11:15pm tonight. Tomorrow morning brings a low at 5:25am before the tide pushes back in to a high at 11:41am, so the early crew will be surfing the run in again.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead there is still a bit of size around. Tuesday should see around 4 foot on a 13 second period, so similar wave height to today with maybe a touch less push behind it. Wednesday eases back into the 3 to 4 foot range, then Thursday holds around 3 foot but with a longer 15 second period, which usually means fewer sets but better waves when they do arrive. Winds are looking variable across the next few days, so early mornings are still the best call before the local wind builds. Have a look at the swell forecast for the full picture.
