BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
11th January 2021
Hello Bali people and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves, the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999. We really hope your 2021 is already an improvement on last year and that our situation can only improve through the year. Here in Bali our situation has only declined while the graphics for the virus casualties only keeps pointing up wards and apparently out of control. It does seem that our chances of seeing tourism return to Bali all hangs on the outcome of the vaccination program that should start to get under way in the next week or so.
But that doesn’t mean us little folk will be first in line and it looks like we will be several more months away before we can breathe (pardon the pun) a little easier after inoculations. All we can do in the mean time is try to avoid crowds, wear our masks and wash our hands. We really thank each and everyone of you have helped Bali in one way or another and I’m sure Bali will not forget you. You really are Bali people. That goes to all our friends that have helped my family through 2020, the people that really know us and our situation, you have got this far. I don’t where we would be without your kindness.
Surf wise out there well right on track as the forecasters predicted wave height started to bump up a little on the 9th and then yesterday the 10th we had some good solid waves breaking around Bali. Here on the Outer Reefs wave height started off in the 2-4ft range in the morning and by midday was pushing double head high on Middle Reef. Through the early morning we had a light and mostly North wind which wasn’t too bad. Not really strong enough to put the Northerly chop into effect but by midday it had dedicated more to the West.
Today the 11th and it’s been pretty much the same so far this morning. Our friend and Kuta Reef crew amn Kadek Gatot sent us through a surf report video clip and you can see that currently on our FB and Instagram pages.
Agung from over on the East Coast at Keramas reported this morning that wave height was still only in the 2ft (shoulder high) range with a light off shore wind.
Weather wise right now at 11.11am we have a mostly sunny blue sky here South of Kuta and the temp is a warm 28 Celsius, Humidity is 83%. The wind is still pretty light and out of the WNW-NW at 3-5knot.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.6mtr Low at 2.33pm
Just for the record the Aussie dollar is doing well on the exchange rate at around Rp10,800 against the Indonesian Rupiah
Today’s photo gallery takes us back a few years to lazy sunny days with all day off shore wind at Balangan beach. Balangan is another place that most surfers these days write off as a fast close out, and it mostly always is. But if you spend enough time down there, and we have, then you would know that that’s not always the case. On average around 1 in 10 waves (or so) on most swells can peel off for a good 100-250mtrs. Me you know I’m just going to sit and wait right on the spot for those ones and if I get 3-4 of them it’s a top session. Then to hit my favorite warung for one of the best nasi gorengs and juice and sit back with friends and watch the scenery. Yes sir it’s a good day down at Balangan beach. Note Balangan is temperamental in regards to “the right tide level” she can be very dangerous on the lower end, not to mention that very tempting end section that will grate the skin off your bones if you get caught on the reef/ rock.
Ok surfers thanks again for dropping in and we can only say again that we can’t wait to see our International airport once again delivering surfers back to Bali. ATM It’s a whole different World here in Indonesia compared to where you are.
