Please don’t give up on us through this as hopefully we are on the last leg. Our good friends at Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp have sent us some photos from the jungle and it looks like the boys and girls in camp have been scoring some nice waves on the end of our last swell. Wave height has backed off since these photos were taken but it won’t be long looking at the long range wave model forecasts before G-Land will be firing on all 8 cylinders again. So drop me a line for more incentive to get you to G-Land with a discount and maybe an up grade in accommodation.
Yesterday, a I mentioned I needed to get out and catch some fish. I had seen some big schools of Tuna busting up on the surface at Uluwatu the day before and was hoping that some of them would cooperate and come back home with me. Well the schools of Bonito Tuna were still there and plentiful through the morning but.. These fish were feeding on bait fish around half the size of a tooth pick and wanted nothing to do with any of the casting lures that I had with me. So it was instant noodles again for dinner. That’s fishing and I still have half a tank of gas and some new idea’s to try again soon. Sorry I just wasn’t in the mood to take any photos out there yesterday, hopefully next trip.
Today the 21st here in Bali and wave height was down in the 1-3ft range here on the Outer reefs of South Kuta. Middle Reef was an option with some head high set waves while Kuta reef and Airports were lacking in size. Although I imagine it would be another great day for all the learners to get out there again. The wind was light earlier but now at 9.30am is blowing hard out of the East at around 12-15knot easy. We might see a slight bump in wave height through late afternoon and into tomorrow.
I have had a couple of phone in reports this morning with the first from up at Balian, way up Bali’s West Coast. Clean and glassy conditions early with 2-4ft waves breaking out on the left and right peak. The wind was just starting to turn light cross / on shore at 8.30am. No shortage of surfers with at least 25 surfers mostly riding the lefts.
Likewise at Canggu with 2-3 footers breaking on the sandbar early while the tide was running out. Clean enough conditions early but similar to Balian the ESE Tradewind also blows cross / on shore on all sections of Canggu as well.
Weather wise in Bali this morning there is a lot of cloud about, but without the threat of rain. Now that I have said that you can probably expect it to rain. Temperature wise right now at 9.30am it’s a cool 27C with the Humidity on 81%. You can also count on the wind to increase a little more through out the day. But then, now I’ve said it might rain…..
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for a little more movement on the ocean and more ESE Tradewind.
Further out on the long range forecast the wave models are lighting up down in the Indian Ocean. The 26th should see the first of 2 back to back swells arriving in Bali. The first is going to be a moderate to big system with a lot of South in direction. The second of the 2 on the 28th looks to be a more intense and could be the swell of the season so far. It is also showing to be coming straight up past Western Australia out of the South.
Ok crew that’s me for now but I will head back to the beach for another surf check and video report on Facebook, so keep an eye out for that. Have a tip top day what ever you have got going.
