BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
17TH FEBRUARY 2021
Thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999. We really are saddened that we can’t keep the on location daily report happening through these extremely hard times here in Bali, but we are doing our best. Sure, there are waves out there just about everyday of the year, somewhere in Bali is always pumping out waves. But the problems are that firstly there is a pandemic happening and Bali has not been exempt from the sickness and deaths that goes with that kind of stuff. Then there’s been really bad weather and when you couple that up with having to buy petrol to find those good waves. Time is one thing we do have, but cash to burn on petrol we don’t I’m sorry. Keeping my family feed and the bills paid have been our No.1 priority, just like most average families here in Bali.
Hello friends and we are extremely grateful to still be here at posting photos, videos and the usual surf and weather info so you can still get your Indo fix. My word it has been a tough haul and now we have well and truly passed the 12 month mark of no income due to none of you being here in Bali yet. Without your support through all this we would be in dire straights for sure. We still have at least another 6 months of this to get through so please don’t give up on us just yet. Anytime you can spare us a dollar we will be eternally grateful.
Surf wise pretty much right on cue wave height started to bump yesterday the 16th and even though the wind was light out of the West there still some fun waves to be had right along the West Coast of Bali. Here where we are just south of Kuta the Outer Reefs had some clean faced 2-ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. KR had a few long ones peeling off and as the tide was filling in only around 6-8 surfers out there. Airport Left is a much shorter wave but still a good one and a similar number in the water down there. I didn’t see anyone catching waves at Middle Reef but probably due the tide filling in, Middle Reef is way better suited to the lower end of the tide.
Today the 17th and I think most of the *surfers left here in Bali were hoping for more light wind again this morning. But it wasn’t to be with the wind kicking in fresh out of the West around the 7-10knot range. I did load a 1 minute morning surf and weather video clip into our @baliwaves Instagram account that has a feed on website as well. So if you want to see how it actually is over here spend a minute and watch the clip.
Weather wise well for me anyway the blue sky we are getting is like a breath of fresh air after all the rain we have seen this wet season it was amplifying my depression. Just a few drops fell last night but no sign of any wet stuff today. Right now at 2.00pm the outside temperature is a very warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is also up there at 75%. Wind direction has been predominantly out of the W-WNW and currently still WNW @ 20kmh.
Tomorrows Surf forecast is predicted to be just a little bigger from the SW. The wave period is also a little longer at 15 – 16 second intervals. Hopefully the wind should be a little lighter early in the day and favoring the NW before dedicating more to the West and staying there.
Our long range swell forecast for Bali is showing another bump of swell for the 19th into the 20th and then backed up with a solid swell arriving on the 22nd and maybe a little more South in that one.
Today’s photos were shot yesterday down at Uluwatu, as it shows surfing conditions were pretty clean and smooth with that light westerly wind we had. Only 6-10 surfers in the water while our friends were on the scene. Thanks to Jeroen at Swell Bali surfer hotel (Bingin) for sharing their photos.

Hi Geoffrey, we are always stoked to give a discount to any of our guests and would be super stoked for any advance bookings after over 1 year of zero guests, times are hard and lean in Bali right now.
