BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
22nd March 2021
Hello everyone and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999) For our latest news and the best views from right here on your favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali. Hey what a ride we have ben on the last year or so over here, going from the point of almost being over crowded to almost a deserted ghost town here in the Tuban / Kuta area. No income coming in over this period for us has been a real humbling experience, not that we had much to splash around at the best of times. But we can’t thank our invaluable friends and supporters that have helped my family keep our heads above the water line. We still have awhile to go yet, so please if you can help keep us afloat a little longer we will be forever in your debt. Click this link for a fee free money transfer link via PayPal
Yesterday the 21st and we had good reliable reports from our crew over on the East side of the island of some good size and clean shaped waves at Keramas. So this morning (22nd) Ray and I waited for the tide to bottom out and start it’s run back in before cruising over there with fully loaded camera equipment.
Pulling into the old abandoned Warung Cetu car park around 9.30am to happily find wave height still a reasonably consistent 3-4ft out on the main peak on Keramas. The wind was a bit of a worry coming out of the NW-WNW and really only a matter of time before it went full West and on shore. But we were happy to blaze away until it did. The tide was good and had been running in for a good hour or so. Seventeen surfers were in the water and there was some good surfing going down. A big turn out from the West Coast surfers with brothers Tonyo and Blerong, Rio and Ryuki putting on a good show of power surfing. Stand out goofy footer had to be Putu “zombie killer” Corox who scored the longest and deepest tube ride while we were on the scene. We will show you how deep in our next VIDEO CLIP.
Surfing conditions held up nice and clean for everyone through until around 11.30am when the wind went full West and took the sheen right outta the waves and sent them a little sideways. But if it was waves you were looking for and not too fussy then there was still plenty on offer. especially as most of the A Team also packed it in with the change in wind direction.
Weather wise today we had a mostly light overcast start (as you can see in most of the photos) with some patches of brief sunshine scattered through it. So far this afternoon has help up mostly sunny with blue sky and the temperature currently still holding on 31 degree’s Celsius now at 4.30pm. Humidity is at 67% and the wind is W-WNW at 5-20kmh. Looking at the wind predictions one pretty accurate forecaster is calling for the wind to start showing a little more Easterly dedication towards the end of next week. Stay tuned and hopefully before you know it we will be seeing Uluwatu and the other bukit locations lighting up again.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is showing a slight drop off in wave height but pretty much still holding in the head to well over head high class on the in coming tide.
Long Range Surf Forecast for Bali and most of Indonesia is not looking good over the next 7 days with the Indian Ocean loaded with High pressure systems. Hopefully towards the end of the month we will see some more swell gracing our reefs (fingers crossed right)
On the Bali Corona Virus situation here at the moment I haven’t seen any real changes. With all the discussions and statements on cracking down on people that don’t comply to the protocols I haven’t seen any cracking down or heard of any big fines being handed out. Most public servants in Bali have been vaccinated, but no ordinary people as yet. April has been ear marked to start vaccinating the “general public” in proposed green zones.
These new green zones or covid-19 free zones are to be in 3 area’s of Bali. They are Ubud, Sanur and Nusa Dua and the government plans to vaccinate all people that live or work in these 3 area’s before any other area’s get a look in. This proposed “covid-19 free” scheme still has a long way to go and a lot of logistics and organizing to go through before it can be put to the test with the first International travelers that have been invited from China, Singapore and South Korea. The Governor of Bali has also said that the vaccination program is not compulsory here in Bali so that may cause some issue’s from the anti vaccination people of which I’m sure there are a few, especially in the land of beautiful people and art. One other thing the Gianyar (Ubud) area has not published any Covid-19 data since last August, pretty much the only part of Bali not showing any transparency on the effects of the pandemic.
Ok friends stay in touch and please feel free to drop me an email with any queries you might have for when we do get going again. I think for any visa matters or entry to Bali you will be better off seeking correct info from those government authorities concerned and not so much on Face book.

Why would the anti vax people have a problem if the govner said vaccines would not be compulsory?
No problem with the anti vaccer’s. But incase you don’t know what the Government is trying to do ? they are trying to create a “green zone” where tourists like you can feel safe because everyone has been vaccinated and there are zero cases of Covid-19. Now if the “anti vaccers” are still running around the place without masks and not vaccinated it may just weaken Bali’s chances of kick starting her tourism again. If you still don’t get it.. try using a google search on “proposed Green zones for Bali” and have a read up of the different Bali Government websites (use the google chrome and they will even translate the Indo for you, Cheers Champion 🙂
