Hi friends we really want to thank everyone who has helped us get through the pandemic and total lack of income. I’m so happy to see the speed at which Bali is coming back into swing again. Please don’t give up on us through this as hopefully we are on the last leg. We are slowly getting back on track but there has been lots of expenses and payback loans so If you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Please don’t hesitate to Please don’t hesitate to drop us an email for any surfing accommodation info and we’ll do our best to help out.
Yesterday the 29th and it was good to see some solid swells wrapping into our East Coast. Where the bulk of these photos were shot wave height was a respectable head to double head high plus and at other locations like Nusa Dua it was more like 3-4 times over head. Some testy conditions for the surfers having to watch out for those clean up set waves, the ones that get you heart rate up in a nano beat at first glimpse. Especially when you know your caught inside.
Yesterday had the wind a little more straight off shore early before it slowly started to dedicate to the West then South West through out the afternoon. Crowd wise yesterday with such classic Bali type weather, full blue sky coupled with a midday high of 30C there were quite a few people out enjoying it. In the surf there would have been at least 25 – 30. Not bad if you remember Bali has been locked up to the international tourism for the last 2.5 years.
We also shot some pretty sick video (4K) footage yesterday and I’m going to try my best to find a few hours today to throw some super radical surfing together.
Yesterday also saw the first day on the long awaited RipCurl Grom Search down along the World famous beach breaks of Half Way Kuta. Half Way Kuta as is says around half way along the beach between South Kuta and Legian and has produced some of Indonesia’s best surfers over the generations. As always the Groms were ready and waiting to show off their moves and conditions were good enough to get it on. chest to over head 2-4ft waves peeling off left and right with a light on shore Westerly that slowly gained momentum throughout the day.
I did get Ketut to head up there to catch the last couple of hours of Day 1 but I haven’t had time to even download that chip yet. Lets get yesterdays report and photos up first hey.
Today the 30th and wave height here along the West Coast is still a nice sized 2-4ft between Kuta Reef and Airport left but the wind is already a out of the West at 3-5knt. My call would be for the East Coast to have clean conditions but possibly a drop in wave height.
The next tide today will be a 1.9mtr High at 12.59pm.
Weather wise it was looking absolutely faultless early this morning but now at 9.00am I can see some cloud banks to the ESE. Hopefully they will pass over and we get another hot and sunny day here on the holiday island of Bali. Current weather conditions, Temp is 28C, humidity is at 74% and the wind is West at 3-5knt.
We wish all the competitors in today RipCurl Grone Search finals the best of luck. Unfortunately Ketut has had to do a home village run and I don’t want to pass on the flu. So we will have to wait for the press release and post that up when the contest has been run and won.
Alrighty we hope you have a fantastic Sunday where ever you might be in this big old crazy World. Bali sure does look forward to seeing you all here again soon or for a bigger and brighter 2023 she will be waiting for you.
Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 12kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone. Everyone that is that’s not using US, Euro, GP or AU dollars that is.
