Hi guys! I know it’s been a while since my last update of our trip, but there has honestly been no waves or contests for me to update you on. There were a couple funny incidents however like Dylan being stranded in the Stradbroke Island channel with a massive shark circling him which we all came to agree –the place is sketchy! Three months ago there was a chick eaten by a shark … [Read more...]
Day 1 of 6 Star Hurley Pro Junior
Monday 22nd January Here we are on the first day of the 6 star Hurley Pro Junior at Burleigh Heads. The waves are about 2-3 foot with an east wind putting a bit of chop into it. Nonetheless the waves are still fun with fun sections being demolished by the boys. Mustafa unfortunately came stuck in his heat, and though the commentators were raving about his backhand attack … [Read more...]
Quiksilver Indo Juniors at Currumbin
Thursday 18th January - After a week of cold weather and no waves we’ve finally arrived at the highly anticipated leg of our trip – the Gold Coast. The Kustom Jetty Pro in Bells saw waves no bigger than a couple of feet with freezing cold winds and blowing hard onshore the whole time we were there. The waves were so bad they called the contest off twice! With early knockouts … [Read more...]

The Man: Peter McCabe – Surfing Legend
The man has been telling me things for over 25 years now. Secret things I guess you could say. Anyways I wish I had kept them secret. First he told me about a place down from Ulu called Padang Padang. Well I said, doesn't it get smaller further down the Bukit like that. Usually it does, he says, but sometimes it don't. Well if you know anything about the surf in Bali, you know … [Read more...]
Kite Surfing & Wind Surfing – Destination Indonesia
For ten years now I have been cursing that wind. Yeah, year after year, at any time of the year it can strike. I've called it the "devil wind" and "the breath of Satan" more times than I care to recall. Right again I'm a surfer, and it's been my life. 32 years ago I received my first real surfboard and have made my life revolve around the Ocean. I also thought that surfing … [Read more...]
Paradise Found
Trussed up in several millimetres of rubber, battling cold onshore winds for mushy one foot waves, it’s no wonder that we West Aussies’ dreams turn north to the balmy waters of Bali. In our fantasies, we’re stroking manfully into solid overhead barrels while photographers tread water in the channel, and half naked girls cheer and frolic on the distant beach. The reality … [Read more...]
Joel, This Is Your Life! :-)
Hey Dude! Man, had the busiest and most fucked up week here! How's things going over there? How Amanda going? Have you got a photo you can send so I can see her. First of all I headed over to Nua Lembogan for the Full Moon party and the waves were pumping and there is this wave called Lacerations over there that I heard was good so I podded over there with this … [Read more...]
Going Feral in the Mentawais
The arrivals lounge at Padang airport is not really a lounge. It is more like a non-air conditioned shed which could never fit a planeload of people in. But this is Indonesia and it is remarkable how many people can fit into a confined space in this country. There are a couple of immigration officials furiously stamping visas and passports. There are also numerous families, … [Read more...]
10 Weeks in the land of G.
As it goes, at the start of any story, I will introduce myself. My name is Dave Scard, most of the crew know me as "Scardy". I have just come down with a serious illness, one that only surf doctors can diagnose. It's called "post G-land depression." Lets just hope that the Australian Social Securities office recognise it and put me straight onto sickness benefits! I have the … [Read more...]
